Abstract:
Contained within this paper is a summary of the design and construction of an analog filter circuit with programmable pole locations (programmed via communication with computer software). The circuit implements an I2C computer bus which is used to vary the value of light-dependent resistors (which in turn vary the filter's pole locations). The circuit was designed with the intent that it would be used as an instructional tool in the laboratory component of a collegiate level electronics course, and is especially useful in demonstrating the elegant mathematics which relate pole locations to the impulse response of a filter.
