Study Abroad Memoir Culture Shock
Abstract:
Culture shock is a common phenomenon among students that study abroad in a foreign country. Learning a new language and trying new foods can cause students to feel homesick. I experienced culture shock when I spent a semester in Prague, Czech Republic. Throughout my four months in the land of beer, I kept a journal of my thoughts and feelings as I went through a rollercoaster of emotions. I compiled a chronological account of my experiences that show my progression through the five stages, and they are included in this travel memoir, which exposes a side of studying abroad that is not as glamorous as most people make it seem.
