Abstract:
This paper details the potential of immersive theatre as an educational tool. The document provides an overview of the engagement deficit currently plaguing the American educational system; a definition of immersive theatre, examples of past and current immersive productions and characteristics of successful immersive shows, and how the medium might be used as an educational tool; and closes with a proposed immersive theatre piece to be used in history instruction for grades 10-12.
