The mock trial is an experiential learning activity that encourages critical thinking, legal knowledge, and rhetorical skill. This thesis contains instructions and materials for performing a mock trial. In the case of Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. Dylan Hertz, students are given three witnesses per team to prove or disprove murder of the first degree and criminal homicide. Dylan Hertz, defendant, stands accused of the murder of Ethan Benecky. Ethan, the president of a prominent collegiate glee club, was found dead on the stage of the Grand Belle Theater on April 15th, 2015. The case contained within these materials is fairly balanced, and each team stands an equal opportunity to prove its case theory to a panel of judges.
