A novel microfabrication process for an ultra-thin, lightweight, and flexible NFC antenna is discussed. The design of the Antenna is investigated and an introduction to near field communications is given. The NFC antenna is part of an emerging field of flexible electronics and has demonstrable aerospace applications. Immediate applications include sensing deformation and thermal changes in spacecraft structures. These applications are discussed. The design and construction of multiple deployable structures is discussed. An introduction to microfabrication and to flexible electronics are given.
