Abstract:
Some researchers have proved that there is a positive relationship between housing prices and proximity to the metro station, but rare research studied the short-term effect on the housing prices induced by the metro stations. This research employed the event study to analyze the short-term effect on the housing prices induced by the newly built metro stations in the recent ten years in Beijing. The results showed that the announcement of the plan for the establishment of the metro station and the start of operation positively affected housing prices 12 months after the event. Therefore, the metro stations can impact housing prices in the short-term, but the universality of the conclusion needs to be tested in further research.
