The thesis follows my journey as a nineteen-year-old to Kodaikanal, India, a small village in the foothills of Southern India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. For one month, I followed doctors on house calls, mobile clinics, and the hospital ward, documenting my observations and conducting interviews. I wanted to see how culture, religion, and class all come together to influence health.
