Abstract:
Many artists have found solace and relief in their work. This experience was no different for me; through art I was able to find my voice and furthermore myself. Since youth, my art has allowed me to escape away from the grief and trauma of my day-to-day life. It has given me the voice I so desperately desired. This love of art and the help that it provided me has inspired me to go into the art therapy field so through my art I can share my feelings and help guide others to the same conclusion. In this thesis, I discuss how grief, depression, eating disorders, and other mental health issues can be improved upon through art and art therapy.
