Abstract:
“Play It Again”: The Role of Music in Video Games, is a course created for the Penn State School of Music in conjunction with the Students Teaching Students initiative. The course seeks to answer the essential question, “How does music shape or create the diegesis of video games?” The course is relevant in equipping students with the analytical tools they need to approach video game music and listen critically to their soundtracks as part of a rapidly growing musical genre that stems from a multi-billion dollar industry.
