Abstract:
The goal of this project aims to promote adolescent reading habits by bridging the gap in access to meaningful YAL books in the form of a classroom library. In addition, this project explores other ways to generate interest in reading based on newer phenomena such as social media. This project was orchestrated during my student teaching practicum at Altoona Area Junior High School during the 2022-2023 school year. During this time I documented the process of building a classroom library from scratch. Additionally, I created a resource for teachers to use that summarizes some key research related to this field.
