nature humans landscape natural world poetry collection
Abstract:
This collection of poetry seeks to investigate the wide-ranging, complicated, and ever-changing topic of the natural world. In doing so, to accommodate the broad scope of such a theme, the poems explore what is traditionally considered to be “the natural world,” including pieces dealing with various outdoor landscapes, animals, and plants. There are also discussions of human experiences, both internal and external. At times, these poems can stray further from the topic of nature, but it is important to consider that humans are animals too, making our own endeavors natural in some ways as well. To bridge the human experience and the more conventional perception of nature, there are musings on the relationships between the two, framed by the more traditional sense of there being a discrete distinction separating them. Included is a critical introduction, which expands significantly on the information provided here and explains some of my influences and technical decisions in creating the collection, as well as a brief notes section and a bibliography.
