Abstract:
Bullying victimization has been an increasingly studied phenomenon, especially with the rise of technology and cyberbullying victimization as a result. This paper analyzes traditional bullying and cyberbullying victimization, and their relationship to depression and suicidal thoughts in high school students. The analysis also examines the moderation of this relationship with the addition of parental supervision and grade in high school. The results showed significant positive relationships between both types of bullying victimization and depression and suicidal thoughts. When the moderator parental supervision was added, the relationship between victimization and depression and suicidal thoughts were weakened. The moderator grade in high school showed freshman and seniors had the strongest relationship between both types of bullying victimization and depression and suicidal thoughts.
